Nicecrane Designs Creations

Happy Memorial Day Weekend!

Do you have big 'party' plans?  They say the weather is going to be cooperative here in NE Ohio ... we shall see!  We are having new carpet put in our upstairs next week so I think our weekend will be more of a 'work' weekend vs. 'party' time!!

Today I'd like to share a few creations I've made using one of  Ignacio's new designer paper packs (Voynich Manuscripts) as well as various images from his STORE.

HERE'S SOME INTERESTING INFORMATION ABOUT VOYNICH MANUSCRIPT:

The Voynich Manuscript is considered to be 'The Most Mysterious Manuscript in the World'. To this day this medieval artifact resists all efforts at translation. It is either an ingenious hoax or an unbreakable cipher. The manuscript is named after its discoverer, the American antique book dealer and collector, Wilfrid M. Voynich, who discovered it in 1912, amongst a collection of ancient manuscripts
Based on the evidence of the calligraphy, the drawings, the vellum, and the pigments, Wilfrid Voynich estimated that the Manuscript was created in the late 13th century. The manuscript is small, seven by ten inches, but thick, nearly 235 pages. It is written in an unknown script of which there is no known other instance in the world.

CDAC Challenge Cards to share . . .

Hello Everyone!
Gosh ... I sure hope you all got through this last round of storms without incident!  Wasn't that lightening terrible!  YIKES!!  Stay safe my friends!
Today I'd like to share with you the cards I created for the current round of challenges over on CDAC.  What great fun!  I've added the link to the CDAC Main Page ... if you scroll down a bit you will see the challenges listed ... pop on over ... grab your freebie and play along!  I'll be watching for your creations!!

Here are my cards using a couple of the freebies offered in the Freebie Challenge . . .

The digi image used on this card is by The Digi Street.  Andy is an amazing illustrator and has a lot of adorable images to offer!  Be sure to check him out!!  I thought this poor kitty was 'missing' something (like the bird that was supposed to be inside the birdhouse ... LOL) so that's the thought behind my sentiment.

Next is an adorable outhouse digi image from Dowdy Doodles.  Again, I have linked you directly to their store so you can check out all the fun digis available.  I didn't know what sentiment to put with this image ... then I saw this stamp in my collection and thought it would be FUN!!  What do you think??

For the Embellishment Challenge, Tlc Creations has offered this awesome 'Summertime' sentiment digi stamp.  I have paired it up with an old Stampin' Up image as well as Flip Flops from a See-D stamp set.  Prismacolor markers and chalk have been used to coloring my main image.

How about this 'funny birthday bunny' offered by Zlatoena Designs for the Holiday/Special Occasion Challenge.  Isn't he just the cutest thing!!  I have used various DCWV designer papers for this creation as well as faux stitching around the outside.

Isn't this grape cluster digi from "priscillastyles" fabulous!  It paired so well with this BoBunny designer paper and it was so much fun to color!!  Priscilla sponsored the Color Challenge and our colors were Green & Purple ... perfect for her wonderful digi offered for this challenge.

Lastly is this fabulous Graduation Sentiment digi stamp offered by Sending Treasures for the Sketch Challenge.  Now mind you ... I haven't done a card with the 'sketch' yet ... but I did get the THREE graduation cards done that I needed!!  Yippee!

Please take a moment and visit these wonderful artists sites ... you might find that digi image you just can't do without!!!  And I'm sure you'll find inspiration along the way!!  THEN ... please come join us at CDAC ... it's a wonderful network of artists and designers ... you don't want to miss all the fun!!

Well, my crafting friends are here ... I'd better get to creating!  Catch you all later!  HUGS!!

Summertime Fun . . .

. . . at Penny's Paper Crafty Challenge.  That's right ... we are celebrating the onset of SUMMERTIME and we hope you'll come join in the fun!
 (detail close-up)

As a young girl, my sister's and I spent countless hours swinging and see-sawing in the playground our father had created for us.  Our swings were made from the trees in our woods that my father cut down, stripped and connected together with 3 rope swings.  That swing had to be 15 feet high and you could swing W-A-Y out into the sky!  (I can't believe we didn't get hurt, now that I look back!) But that's life in the country and you played as hard as you worked!

Today's challenge sponsor is Whiff of Joy.
Please check the PPCC blog for all winner details.

Details for my creation are as follows:
Stamps:  Elisabeth Bell (Rope Swing) Sugar Nellies, Art Impressions (sentiment)
Papers: Paper Pizazz dp, white, black, pink & lavender card stock
Ink:  Versafine black
Accessories:  Offray lavender grosgrain ribbon, Spellbinder classic & scallop oval dies, Martha Stewart lacy butterfly punch, Kaiser pearls, Bow Easy, Deco Art Glamour Dust, Fiskars scallop border punch

Thanks so much for your visit and comments.  I appreciate both!  Enjoy your day ... in whatever you do!

Joan's Gardens #19 - Summer Finale

This week at Joan's Gardens, Joan is combining her two challenges and asking us to make a Card with Matching Tag.  What a clever idea to finish out her challenges until Fall.

Hubby & I worked outside all morning (rains have held off so far) and got the decking pad releveled and some trimming done on some of the greenery around the deck.  So now that it's mid afternoon and the sun is too hot for me ... I decided to come down to my 'crafting cave' and play around a bit.

I wasn't really sure where to begin on this project but I figured BIRTHDAY is always a safe bet for tags or cards.  Then I started looking through my 'new' stack of K& Company designer paper pads and this sheet with the aqua butterfly just popped out at me.

The fact that I had a scrap piece of aqua cardstock and a roll of aqua satin ribbon sitting close by ... clinched the deal for me!

The Martha Stewart Lacy Butterfly punch worked perfectly for both pieces ... I just added a little glue & Deco Art Glamour Dust for that added 'sparkle'.

On the card I had extra room so I thought a butterfly centered Prima flower with aqua pronds (MS punch) would work ... and it did ... perfectly.  I really like how that looks (have to keep that idea in mind for the future).

If you've never been to Joan's Gardens ... by all means, you must stop over and see all the wonderful products she carries in her store as well as inspirational creations.  Joan has another workshop coming up the end of June and I'm thrilled to say I will be attending once again.  I ALWAYS learn such wonderful tricks and techniques at her workshops that the 5 hour drive is MORE than worth it!!  Besides we've become friends and I just LOVE spending time with her & her wonderful hubby Jon!

Other challenges I'd like to share these creations with are:
The Emerald Faerie Garden - Anything Goes
I Did It Creations - Anything Goes
Allsorts - Birthday
Ellephanatstic - Birthday Party
 Less Is More - Butterflies
 Little Claire's Designs - Sparkle
Shannon's Sentiments - Birthdays
Stamp Something - Beachy Colors
Shelly's Images - Anything Goes

Thanks so much for stopping by today and I hope you've had as great a weekend as I have!  Didn't do anything SPECIAL ... just enjoyed the sunshine ... grilled out with the neighbors and thanked God for all his blessings!!!

Hugs to you all!
Darlene

Something for the LADIES . . .

Good Afternoon Everyone!

I have two creations to share with you this afternoon and they are both based around 'the Ladies!'

First is this lovely card I made for the challenge at Joan's Gardens.  Nothing like waiting until the last minute ... a new (and last for the summer) card challenge will be up tomorrow morning!  LOL    But that's okay ... I was inspired by the recipe and just had to create something.
The recipe was:
  • Monochromatic
  • Embossed background
  • Flourish
  • Flower(s)
  • Butterflies
 * * * * *
Secondly is a card created for the Crafty Secrets Forum Challenge over on Splitcoast Stampers.  We were to FOCUS on our FOCUS IMAGE . . . of course while using Crafty Secrets / Heartwarming Vintage products for our projects/cards.  Here's what I came up with . . .

I have used an image from the 'Homemade' booklet for my FOCUS IMAGE.   The all white background helped showcase this adorable image perfectly.

I'm short on time today ... but if you would like any of the details on creating these two images ... PLEASE ... just give a shout and I'll give you all the info you need.

Thanks and have a great day!
